Contactless works, but chip-and-pin throws errors.
Usually a dirty chip reader or an expired EMV certificate. NFC keeps working while the chip flow fails. Clean first, then call your provider.
Try this first
- 1Clean the chip reader with a cleaning card.
- 2Test with your own card, two different banks.
- 3Check the terminal log for a recent failed software update.
- 4Call CCV, Worldline or Adyen support, ask for EMV cert status.
When to bring us in
If chip keeps failing after cleaning and a reboot, request a replacement terminal. On-site repair usually takes longer than a swap.
