Replacing receipt roll, printer will not feed.
Thermal rolls have a coated side. Loaded the wrong way the printer feeds blanks. Roll width (57 or 80 mm) has to match the model.
Try this first
- 1Scratch the roll with a fingernail, only the printable side darkens.
- 2Load so paper exits from under the roll, upward.
- 3Close the lid until it clicks, do a test print from the menu.
- 4Keep two spare rolls under the counter.
When to bring us in
If the printer prints blank with good paper too, the head is worn. A new Star or Epson is usually cheaper than a repair.
