I want to clean up temporary files safely
Windows collects installer leftovers, old updates, and cache files. Cleanup is safe if you use the right button.
Try this first
- 1Settings > System > Storage > 'Temporary files'. Check everything except 'Downloads' (that often holds your actual downloads).
- 2Click 'Remove'. Sometimes pulls back tens of GB, especially 'Previous Windows installation' after a big update.
- 3Turn on Storage Sense so this happens monthly on its own: toggle 'Storage Sense' On, pick an interval.
- 4Do not use random 'PC cleaner' tools. Built-in Windows is safe and ad-free.
When to bring us in
