OneDrive says 50 GB but my drive is fuller
OneDrive keeps local copies of files you opened. With Files-On-Demand off, everything sits twice: cloud and local.
Try this first
- 1Click the OneDrive tray icon > gear > Settings > Sync and backup tab.
- 2Enable 'Files On-Demand'. Files get cloud icons and only hit disk when opened.
- 3For files you always need offline: right-click > 'Always keep on this device'. Let the rest stream.
- 4Got big folders you never need on this laptop (old projects)? Right-click > 'Free up space'. Sweep them out.
When to bring us in
For organizations with many uncontrolled SharePoint libraries syncing, we deploy policies that keep only relevant folders on-demand.
