Group Policy processing drags at sign-in
Slow SYSVOL replication or a GPO heavy on preferences blocks the shell. Often a single policy with drive mappings or printer mappings is the culprit.
Try this first
- 1Run gpresult /h report.html and inspect the per-CSE timings
- 2Filter Group-Policy-Operational on events 4016 and 5016 for latency spikes
- 3Move slow drive mappings to a logon script or Intune
- 4Disable Always Wait For Network At Computer Startup if the WAN is slow
When to bring us in
For DC-side latency: have the AD team review SYSVOL/DFSR replication and LSDOU order.
