Chrome with many tabs makes my laptop unusable

Memory Saver in modern Chrome sleeps inactive tabs. On older versions or after a policy override it is off.

Try this first

  1. 1Go to chrome://settings/performance and turn Memory Saver on
  2. 2Add exceptions for sites that must stay active
  3. 3Close duplicate tabs and tab groups you no longer need
  4. 4Use tab groups and pinned tabs so your workflow survives cleanup

When to bring us in

For a browser policy blocking Memory Saver: have IT review the Enterprise policy.
