What does a serious SMB website build cost

Range is huge. Bottom is a template site, top is custom. For most SMBs the sensible spot is somewhere in the middle.

Try this first

  1. 1Template plus DIY (Wix, Squarespace, WordPress with theme): a few hundred to a thousand euros one-off plus hosting. Fine for a business-card site. Not for lead generation or conversion work.
  2. 2WordPress by a freelancer or small agency: one to five thousand euros depending on page count and design demands. Includes one-off design and build, excludes hosting and maintenance.
  3. 3Webflow or headless build by a design agency: five to fifteen thousand euros for an SMB site. Top of range for animations, custom CMS fields, multilanguage.
  4. 4Always ask what IS and IS NOT in the price. Domain, hosting, SSL, yearly maintenance, content migration, photography, copy, SEO basics, analytics. A quote without these is a half quote.
  5. 5Budget yearly maintenance separately. Between 50 and 200 euros per month is normal for backups, updates, security, small copy tweaks. No maintenance is not an option once a site is live.
