My cloud bill creeps up 5 or 10 percent every month, nobody knows why.
Creeping growth is almost always a mix of data growth, unused resources that keep running, and default settings that get pricier over time.
Try this first
- 1Take your last three monthly invoices and compare the top 5 line items, not the totals.
- 2Look for storage that never shrinks: old snapshots, dev databases, log retention without limits.
- 3Check VMs and containers sitting idle, especially test environments nobody shuts down, and overprovisioned database instances.
- 4Set billing alerts and tags on everything, so a new department or project does not silently start costing money.
