Our MFP/scanner needs to send via a smart host
A smart host is a relay server that picks up mail from devices or LOB apps and authenticates on their behalf.
Try this first
- 1Choose between O365 SMTP relay, third-party (SendGrid), or your own relay
- 2Configure the device with SMTP server, port 587, STARTTLS
- 3Use a service account, not a personal account
- 4SPF: add the relay IP or include to your SPF record
When to bring us in
For many devices, dedicated relay with IP whitelist beats spreading credentials.
