Should we get a dedicated IP or stay on shared?
Dedicated IP gives you reputation control, shared leans on the neighbours. Under ~50k mails per month, dedicated is usually too expensive.
Try this first
- 1Under 50k/month: stay on shared, pick an ESP with solid reputation
- 2Above 50k/month: consider dedicated for control
- 3Dedicated needs warming and consistent volume
- 4Irregular sends on dedicated hurt your own reputation
When to bring us in
When in doubt, ask the ESP for their shared-IP reputation numbers before switching.
