On-prem server needs to move to cloud, lift-and-shift
Lift-and-shift is a fine first step. Don't re-architect immediately, that's a separate phase.
Try this first
- 1Inventory with Azure Migrate appliance: CPU, RAM, disk, dependencies
- 2Right-size based on actual usage, not purchase spec
- 3Replicate via Azure Migrate Server Migration or AWS MGN
- 4Test cutover in dev first, plan a maintenance window for prod
When to bring us in
For sensitive workloads, pair with ExpressRoute or VPN during migration. Public-internet replication works but is slower.
