Not sure if WordPress salts have ever been rotated
The eight security keys in wp-config.php sign sessions. Rotate them on suspicious activity to kill all sessions.
Try this first
- 1Generate new keys via api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt/
- 2Replace the eight lines in wp-config.php with the new set
- 3All users are logged out, log back in yourself
- 4Rotate at least yearly plus after any suspicious incident
When to bring us in
Locked out after rotation, a caching layer may hold old sessions, host must flush.
