Webflow site with a gated member area or paywall, considering Memberstack or Outseta.

Webflow has built-in basic Memberships, but for real gated content, paid subscriptions and role-based access you hit walls fast. Memberstack and Outseta close that gap without forcing you onto a full-stack framework.

Try this first

  1. 1Pin down scope first: free signup, paid tiers, or both. That decides whether Webflow Memberships is enough or you need an external layer.
  2. 2Memberstack 2.0 hooks into your Webflow site via a script, adds login, signup and gated-content attributes on elements. Stripe integration is built in, no separate Zapier flow.
  3. 3Outseta is broader: members, CRM, billing, helpdesk and email in one. Heavier than Memberstack, useful if you want to bundle customer admin and email campaigns too.
  4. 4Check cookie banner and consent flow: a logged-in-user cookie is functional and allowed without consent, tracking and marketing pixels inside the portal are not.
  5. 5Test logout and password-reset flows thoroughly: historically that is where these tools generate the most support tickets.
  6. 6Plan an export strategy: what do you do with your members if you switch platforms a year from now. Memberstack and Outseta export CSV, Stripe customers stay on Stripe anyway.

When to bring us in

Past 1000 paying members or with complex role-based permissions (per course, per file), you outgrow Memberstack. A Next.js frontend with NextAuth and Stripe is no more expensive then, and future-proof.
