Pages heavy from uncompressed images
Images are usually 70% of page weight. Compression at source plus a plugin does wonders.
Try this first
- 1Source: always export to the right format (SVG for logos, WebP or AVIF for photos)
- 2Server: install a plugin that serves WebP/AVIF on the fly (ShortPixel, Imagify, EWWW)
- 3Plugin: enable lazy loading, native since WP 5.5
- 4Audit the media library periodically for originals over 500KB
When to bring us in
Media library with 10,000+ images, a dev can run a batch regenerate script.
