Pages heavy from uncompressed images

Images are usually 70% of page weight. Compression at source plus a plugin does wonders.

Try this first

  1. 1Source: always export to the right format (SVG for logos, WebP or AVIF for photos)
  2. 2Server: install a plugin that serves WebP/AVIF on the fly (ShortPixel, Imagify, EWWW)
  3. 3Plugin: enable lazy loading, native since WP 5.5
  4. 4Audit the media library periodically for originals over 500KB
