Wish for real-time translation during an international meeting

Real-time translation is available in Teams and Zoom Webinar for several language pairs, with variable quality. For business nuance a human interpreter is still sometimes better, but for stand-ups or brainstorming AI often suffices.

Try this first

  1. 1Decide which language pairs you need, not all pairs are available on every platform.
  2. 2For Microsoft Teams Premium, live translation covers several languages, check the current list before exposing it.
  3. 3For Zoom, live translation is a separate feature in the higher licences.
  4. 4Test quality with a conversation representative of your work, jargon often breaks in translation.
  5. 5For a formal client meeting, hire a human interpreter, AI is not a substitute when legal precision is needed.
  6. 6Document in the room guide when translation is enabled and what licences it needs.
