First network printer for a team, no more USB stick
From the second team member onward a personal USB printer is not workable. Pick a network printer that signs in to the cloud, that way you do not configure every device separately.
Try this first
- 1Pick a printer that explicitly supports AirPrint, Mopria and cloud printing, that saves install on every laptop and phone.
- 2Hang the printer on your business network rather than on a single laptop with sharing, that breaks at first restart.
- 3Enable secure or pull printing if the printer is in a shared space, otherwise contracts sit open on the output tray.
- 4Create a shared printer account instead of someone's personal one, then the printer keeps working after that person leaves.
- 5Set toner ordering to automatic through the supplier, otherwise you run dry on a day when printing is actually needed.
- 6Plan a yearly firmware-update check, printers are often forgotten in update rounds and are a popular entry point.
When to bring us in
If the printer throws odd messages or goes offline without reason, Vectel can rebuild the network side and admin account so it stays calm.
