Cover charge or cutlery fee at the table, how in POS.
Cover (per person) is a separate line, linked to the seat-sign-on so it appears automatically. Cutlery fee for takeaway works the same. Show it on the receipt, guests react better to transparency.
Try this first
- 1Add a fixed cover button in POS, tie to the 'add guest' action.
- 2For takeaway: auto-add a cutlery line with opt-out.
- 3Communicate on menu and QR menu, not only on receipt.
- 4Audit monthly: cover total versus seats in the table report.
When to bring us in
On a cover complaint, explain why (e.g. extra service or bread included). Hidden charges fuel bad reviews.
