After login it takes two minutes before the laptop is usable, while the boot itself was quick.

The delay is post-login auto-starts: Teams, OneDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud, Spotify, OEM tooling. Plenty of that doesn't need to launch on every sign-in.

Try this first

  1. 1Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), Startup apps tab. Sort by Startup impact. Anything High or Medium with no direct productivity value can be disabled.
  2. 2Safe to disable: Spotify, Discord, Adobe Creative Cloud, OEM helpers (Lenovo Vantage, HP Support Assistant), printer utilities, gaming launchers.
  3. 3Keep: OneDrive (sync critical), Teams (business), AV client, VPN client if always-on is required, Defender Endpoint.
  4. 4For deeper services: run 'msconfig', Services tab, tick 'Hide all Microsoft services' and review what's left. Disable per item only what you recognize and don't need. Don't touch anything whose name you don't know.
  5. 5On Mac: System Settings, General, Login Items. Remove apps you don't want at every login. 'Allow in the Background' at the bottom lists services, treat with care.
  6. 6Measure the effect: use BootRacer or a stopwatch between 'user sees desktop' and 'first app responds'. Shaving 30 seconds is a normal payoff.

When to bring us in

If login stays slow after cleanup, the cause is a GPO, login script, roaming profile or slow network share. Other entries in this category cover those.
