BitLocker asks for a recovery key on every boot
A hardware change or TPM reset triggers recovery mode. The seal loses sync with the board's measurements.
Try this first
- 1Read the Microsoft-Windows-BitLocker-API/Management event log and find the PCR that diverges
- 2Suspend BitLocker, reboot once and resume to re-seal the measurements
- 3Check whether a recent firmware update or secure-boot toggle is the cause
- 4Confirm the recovery key is escrowed in Entra or AD before tinkering further
When to bring us in
If prompts persist after re-seal: clear the TPM in BIOS and re-enroll, with escrow verified.
