My laptop is only slow on Thursday morning
Fixed time, fixed slowdown: almost always a scheduled full antivirus scan that runs during the day instead of at night.
Try this first
- 1Open your antivirus tool and find the scan schedule. Microsoft Defender: Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options > Scheduled scan.
- 2Move the scan to a time the laptop is on but you are not working. 04:00 rarely works because the laptop is asleep.
- 3For laptops that shut down each evening: 12:30 during lunch is a fine window.
- 4Do not skip the scan this week; it still needs to run, just at a different time.
When to bring us in
Under a Managed-IT package we set uniform scan windows and shorten total time using incremental scans.
