DNS host mentions 'ALIAS' or 'ANAME', what's that?

ALIAS/ANAME does what a CNAME would want at apex, but exposes an A record outwardly.

Try this first

  1. 1DNS host resolves the target internally and serves the IP as an A record
  2. 2Only works where supported (DNSimple, Route53, easyDNS, Cloudflare via flattening)
  3. 3Use for apex bindings to PaaS (Vercel, Netlify, Heroku)
  4. 4TTL usually lower because target can change

When to bring us in

Not all hosts support it, ask support or move DNS.
