DNS host mentions 'ALIAS' or 'ANAME', what's that?
ALIAS/ANAME does what a CNAME would want at apex, but exposes an A record outwardly.
Try this first
- 1DNS host resolves the target internally and serves the IP as an A record
- 2Only works where supported (DNSimple, Route53, easyDNS, Cloudflare via flattening)
- 3Use for apex bindings to PaaS (Vercel, Netlify, Heroku)
- 4TTL usually lower because target can change
When to bring us in
Not all hosts support it, ask support or move DNS.
