How do I clean a laptop, screen, and keyboard without breaking anything?

No harsh chemicals, no dripping cloth, no compressed-air can held too close. Microfibre cloth plus isopropyl on the cloth, not on the device.

Try this first

  1. 1Laptop off, charger unplugged. Microfibre lightly damp with water or 70% isopropyl. Do not spray onto the device.
  2. 2Screen: dry or barely-water-damp microfibre only. Glass cleaners and alcohol can attack coatings on some panels.
  3. 3Keyboard: flip and shake gently for crumbs. Soft brush or short bursts of compressed air at distance for trapped dust.
  4. 4Never let liquid seep under keys or into ports. Let it dry before powering on.

When to bring us in

Liquid spill, crumbs that will not shake out, or sticky keys after coffee? Do not open a newer laptop yourself. We or a repair shop will open it dry and clean.
