Do I actually know who has which hardware?
In a 5-15 person company you lose track within 1-2 years. A quarterly hardware audit avoids 'no idea where laptop 7 is'.
Try this first
- 1Make a sheet or small register: serial, model, user, location, purchase date. One tab, no software overkill.
- 2For M365/Intune environments: the admin portal already lists most devices. Export and link to people.
- 3Quarterly: compare list to reality. Once a year walk every desk (30 minutes).
- 4On hire and exit: update the register immediately. Not 'when I have time'.

- Should we buy or lease laptops as a 5-person company? Both work. Lease is predictable but pricier over the term; buying needs cash and your own depreciation. The difference is mostly admin.
