New email address or alias for a role or new employee
A new employee needs a mailbox. A role address (info@, sales@, support@) is often fine as an alias or shared mailbox, free of charge.
Try this first
- 1Decide: new person = mailbox with its own license. Role / team address = alias or shared mailbox.
- 2Aliases are free (up to 400 per user). Shared mailboxes are free up to 50 GB without a separate sign-in.
- 3In M365 admin: Active users > [user] > Manage username and email > Add alias. Or Teams & Groups > Shared mailboxes > Add a shared mailbox.
- 4Then arrange: signature, auto-reply, and who has access. Before you announce it externally.
When to bring us in
For our clients we manage this administratively. One mail to info@vectel.nl with the desired name and who needs access is enough.
