AWS price for one server feels way too high
For a few VPS under steady load, Hetzner or OVHcloud is much cheaper. Trade-off: fewer managed services.
Try this first
- 1Steady-state webserver or DB: Hetzner Cloud or dedicated often 3 to 5x cheaper
- 2If you actively use ECS, Lambda, managed RDS, GuardDuty: AWS has a reason
- 3A combo works: app on Hetzner, S3-equivalent on Cloudflare R2 or Backblaze B2
- 4Count egress, AWS egress is expensive, Hetzner includes traffic
