Need a CDN: CloudFront, Front Door, Cloud CDN or a third party?
For sites with EU audience the cloud-native CDN almost always suffices. For global audiences or advanced edge logic (image resize, A/B, edge functions), Cloudflare or Fastly is often better and cheaper.
Try this first
- 1Static assets and SPA in the same cloud as your hosting: native CDN (CloudFront, Front Door, Cloud CDN). Tightest integration, simplest deploy.
- 2High traffic and global: Cloudflare. Bandwidth is unmetered on most plans, where CloudFront bills per GB.
- 3For edge rendering or image transforms: Cloudflare Workers or Vercel Edge Functions. AWS native edge compute (Lambda@Edge) is pricier and less ergonomic.
- 4For video streaming with adaptive bitrate: Fastly or a dedicated video CDN. Generic CDNs work, but dedicated is cheaper at volume.
- 5Set cache headers strictly: Cache-Control: public, max-age, immutable for versioned assets. A CDN without good headers caches nothing.
When to bring us in
For SaaS with customers in 5+ countries where you want per-customer TLS or edge logic, a short session on multi-tenant CDN design is worth it.
